Scouting (& Guiding) in Aden
There were two distinct Scout Troops for Brit kids in Aden. The Air Scouts at Khormaksar and the Sea Scouts at Steamer Point. There was also a Girl Guide Pack at Khormaksar. Over the years there will have been many leaders of each lot but we’ve (so far) only managed to find one Scouter for each troop – their contact details will be found as a footnote to the members’ register.
I understand that Denis Hunt (our Sea Scouter) has submitted an article to a Scouting magazine and when it’s available we hope to reproduce some or all of it here.
Geoff Burns – an Air Scout in 1963/4 - has written a short article on his time in the troop illustrated with some of his own pictures and
that is now available on the site.Geoff's also contributed an article about the 1964 camp in Kenya
which is also now availableThere is still plenty of webspace available for other articles on this subject.

We’d still welcome some more articles on scouting in Aden. Meanwhile, here are a couple of scouting pictures from Richard Preece.

Robin Davies, Stewart Hutt, Jim McTurk, Ian Morris
Here are another couple of pictures which I believe Tony Dunn found in some old records. He identified them as both being of the Sea Scout Troop in the mid 1960s. Tony forwarded them to Pat Mobbs (Davies) who in turn forwarded them to Geoff Burns. Geoff believes one of them to be of the Air Scout Troop. Perhaps someone will recognise themself in the picture(s) and can clarify the position ?
